The African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) celebrated another great year of cinema at the Toronto International Film Festival with its annual luncheon at David Chang’s Momofuku Noodle Bar. The fourth annual AAFCA at TIFF Celebration presented by Netflix welcomed a diverse group of industry leaders.
Attendees of this intimate gathering included Filmthropist and RogerEbert.com CEO Chaz Ebert, Macro Entertainment founder Charles King with Macro Chief Branding Officer Stacey Walker King, Netflix VP Tendo Nagenda, Film Independent Artistic Director Jacqueline Lyanga, Endeavor Content Co-President Graham Taylor, publicity superstars David Magdael, Soni Ede and Cassandra Butcher, along with Vondie Curtis-Hall, Omar Dorsey and Zackary Momoh from Harriet, Tituss Burgess, Mike Epps, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Craig Robinson from Dolemite Is My Name, Shamier Anderson from Stowaway and Sarunas Jackson from Insecure and Games People Play and AAFCA members from coast to coast, among others.
AAFCA at TIFF Celebration is one of a series of events that AAFCA hosts at various film festivals throughout the year, including Sundance and Tribeca. “Toronto is just one of the tentpole film festivals that AAFCA participates in each year. These gatherings celebrate the increasingly diverse offerings at the industry’s most well-known festivals as well as foster goodwill for that work to continue. They offer an opportunity for industry professionals to connect and bond. Most importantly, they reaffirm the value of multicultural content and outreach.”
